" JAPANESE PLANE TO BE AT PR0V0, JULY 25-27 A Japanese Zero plane that finally fin-ally fuif'Iled its late pilot's ambition ambi-tion to land on American soil, is no being viewed by hundreds of Salt Lake City people as an outstanding out-standing lelice of the present war. The plane, a Mitsubishi 00, was placed on. exhibit Wednesday at Second Mouth street, facing Main, and is open for public inspection daily from 10 a. m.. to 10 p. m., until next Monday night. This Zero was shot down over Guadalcanal, salvaged by Navy Seabees, and brought to this country coun-try for. observation and tests by the U. S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics. Aero-nautics. It was reconditioned for exhibitio i purposes by Lockheed-Vega Lockheed-Vega and Adel Precision Company of Buibink, Calif. Upon f losing in Salt Lake City, the plane, will betaken-.to Provo i for a three-day showing, July 25, 26, 27, on the City-County Building Build-ing groi.nds and will be displayed in Ogdsn, July 28, 29, and 30, on Washington at 25th street. The Zero's exhibit in Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden. is sponsored spon-sored by Naval Aid Auxiliary, a non-p:oi't welfare organization functioning under Registry D-19 of the President's War Relief Control Con-trol Board. Arrangements for showing the plane in this area were ha idled by Lieut. LeRoy D. Simmons, Navy Public Relations Officer, Uniformed Naval Air women wo-men and WAVES will be in attendance at-tendance at the exhibits. All proceeds from the small admission ad-mission lee charged to view the plane a-e used for the benefit of sailors, iarines, coast guardmen and their families in the 12th Naval Nav-al district. Mrs. C. H. Wright, wife of the 12th Naval District Commandant, heads the 12th Naval Na-val District Branch of the Naval Aid Auxiliary. |
