Show PLANETARY NEBULA MOVES FAST TOWARD THE EARTH The astronomers report that a minute planetary nebula is speeding speed-ing 338,000 miles an hour in the general direction of the earth. This may be important news but not to those now living on this globe. The nebula is so far away that its light requires 10,000 years to reach the good earth and light, as readers recall, travels 186,000 miles per second. , More remarkable than the information infor-mation about this nebula is the revelation that man has reached a stage of development that enables him to discover facts about the universe and to know what is going go-ing on nearly 60 trillion miles from where he lives. Of course, 60 trillion miles is "walking distance" in the great universe where our globe spins and turns but it is the approximate distance that man could travel in ten years if he could fly through space at the speed of light. |
