Show WHITING FAMILY ELECTS OFFICERS Jesse H. Whiting was reelected president of the Whiting family at their annual reunion held Saturday and Sunday at Whiting park up Maple canyon. More than 400 descendants of Edwin Whiting, representing five states, attended the meet, which featured programs Saturday night and sports and other entertainment entertain-ment Sunday. Other officers reelected were Olive Whiting, secretary; Hannah Mendenhall, genealogy chairman; William T. Tew, temple committee chairman; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whiting, historians; and Edgar Whiting, honorary president. Three of the five remaining children of Edwin Whiting were present and gave incidents of early days and faith-promoting experiences. exper-iences. Those present were Abbie A. Bird, 83, Mapleton; Edgar, 87, Mapleton; Ma-pleton; and John, 73, St. Johns, Arizona. The other two children living are Monroe Whiting of Ne-phi Ne-phi and Edwin Henry Whiting of Los Angeles. A special feature of the reunion was a booth where relics and pictures pic-tures were displayed. Of special note was a book made by Wayne Johnson for the Whiting family which contained early historical sketches of members of the family done in hand lettering, illustrated with pen and pencil sketches and photographs. |
