Show FORGOTTEN by Glen Law The night was warm. A tropical breeze kissed all in ecstacy Over your shoulder the moon hung low to cast Its silvery rays on your hair soft as fine-spun gold It was only a half-moon, but one filled so full of beauty One wondered for a moment if it would burst Scattering Stardust across the star-imbedded sky. A million tiny wavelets' caught the moon's reflection And each cast a shattered ray for a brief space of time And then was gone gone like the dreams I dream, Waiting for another to take Its places waiting waiting The soft shadows danced in the stillness. Overhead countless stars Twinkled, blinked, dissapeared for a second and then. Peered again thru the evening blue, each doing his tiny part To make the night, more gorgeous, more heavenly for you and me I remember well your standing there, your back towards the moon. In your eyes I'd found a new light, a new sparkle unknown before But I was young, and moved by young love's fancy, I Pressed you close to me One kiss, one embrace to last a lifetime. Through the years the memories have lingered on Memories so beautiful, so exuberant, ex-uberant, so exalting, and so torturing. I've tried to justify my waiting, this hopping against hope, this hell! And I've tried to forget thos days that once were mine. I had only known you such a short, short time, and yet. In that short time, you taught me how to live, how to thrill, How to count the hours, the minutes min-utes until again I'd Be with you In my new heaven, in my new found paradise. It all seems so strange now when I remember back As if an angel had alighted, and being the first along the track, I'd seized, and called you mine, forgetting for a moment You had your will your own part to play You played it well! I guess I'm just a silly old man possessed of reveries Full of dreams of what might have been if only you Had paused, forgiven me my faults, my stupidities, And had not left me miserable, so lonely, so FORGOTTEN |
