Show Jettie Jacob Receives Drum Major Trophy in Rose Parade In white and gold whipcord uniform, uni-form, Miss Jettie. Jacob, former Drum Major of the Springville High School Band, represented the State of Utah for a second year at the Annual Tournament of Roses Colebration held In Pasadena Pas-adena on New Year's Day. Following her appearance at the Floral Parade Miss Jacob appeared ap-peared with five other Prize winning win-ning Drum Majors representing their various States at a large banquet held at the Wilmenton Hotel Green at Pasadena. Here she gave a twirling demonstration, demonstra-tion, and at the close of the banquet ban-quet was presented a lovely Twenty-inch Gold Trophy cup by Mr. Williams, official of the Rose tournament committee. The base of the cup is made up of Black Marble, the body of Gold-ray, Gold-ray, the crown has the figure of a "Drum Major" in action with its Baton at "Forward March" position. Enscribed on the Cup Is: ROSE TOURNAMENT 1940 UTAH REPRESENTATIVE AS ALL STATE DRUM MAJOR 2ND YEAR JETTIE JACOB Miss Jacob is a daughter of Mrs. Hazel Jacob, formerly of Springville, Spring-ville, but who is now residing at Compton, California where Miss Jacob Is attending College and Drum Majoring the large 123-piece 123-piece Compton College Tartor Band. |
