Show Citizens Urged to Plant Victory Gardens, Clean Up Property Substantial Prizes Being Offered Contestants In Junior Chamber Contest; Entry Blanks Are Printed In Today's Herald The Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce members are sponsoring their annual Spring Clean-Up-Paint-Up and Victory Garden campaign, and are offering substantial prizes to the winners of a contest to be conducted in Prizes of $10 in war savings stamps to the citizen who can show the most improvment in his personal property, and a similar prize to the person with the best Victory garden, are being offered by the Chamber. The contest begins immediately and for the Home Beautification will close on May 15. The Victory garden will close June 15. In another an-other part of the Herald will be found an entry blank for the contest con-test and those desiring to enter are asked to fill out the blank and bring it or mail it to Smart's Feed store or the Springville Herald, immediately. The prizes should be an added incentive for community-minded citizens to put forth extra effort this year in improvement of their surroundings and converting the weed-infested areas into worth- while Victory gardens, witn iooa rationing problems facing everyone, every-one, a garden will be of great convenience con-venience and gardeners will be aiding the war effort in releasing that much more food for the armed forces. To facilitate the campaign, the Junior Chamber of Commerce sponsored this week's issue of the Herald, soliciting ads from the business houses and cooperation from citizens in general. Previous campaigns have indicated indi-cated that citizens are proud of , their city and enjoy clean and beautiful surroundings, and this year should prove no exception. The committee on this project is urging everyone to enter the contest con-test as soon as possible and whether wheth-er you win or loose, the city will be made more beautiful and the war effort will be aided by your efforts. |
