Show Red Devils To Play Jordan Quint Here Fri Close Game Expected When Teams Clash In First Home Practice Tilt; Devils Split With Jordan And Provo The Springville high school Peed Devils will make their first public appearance on the home court Fri-dav Fri-dav nic-ht aeainst the Jordan high school basketeers in a return practice game. The game will start at 7:30 p. m., with a close and interesting battle anticipated. anti-cipated. No charge will be made for this game, stated Principal W. W. Brockbank. Hughes Trims Squad . . . Mentor Hughes has now cut his squad to 12 men and has been drilling his players fervently in an attempt to smooth out the rough spots that showed up in the two previous encounters. The Red Devils will probably be without the services of Paul Eggertsen, star guard and one of the top scorers in the Nebo district last year, it was learned this week. Eggertsen may be out the remainder of the season due to an illness. Filling in his guard position will be Cal Finley, who will team up with Robert Ro-bert Sumsion on the guard line, Captain Paul Hansen and Glen Clark will hold down the forward spots, with Eldean Weight taking over the center position. Relief roles will be played by Ray Clark, last year's letterman, John Savage, Blair Sargent, Eldon Johnson, Dick Crandall, and Allan Fullmer. Devils Win, Lose . . . Coach Art Hughes' hoopsters came out with one win and one loss in his two opening practice games played at Jordan and Provo this past week. Last Wednesday afternoon the Red Devils defeated the strong Jordan high school five in a close finish, 21 to 23. The Red Devils led most of the game, but the Jordan five closed the gap in the waning moments to within two points of the winners. In their second game, played at Provo Monday, the Red Devils dropped their contest by a lopsided lop-sided 42 to 25 margin to the touted Bulldogs, after putting up a stubborn stub-born battle. Rand Clark and Ford counted for 15 and 9 points, respectively, for the Bulldogs, while Glen Clark and Eldean Weight, for the Red Devils, were high with 11 and 8 points.
