Show RAY L RICHARDS NEW PRESIDENT OF STATE .IS. C. C. Board Members Hear Reports By State Chairmen Oa. Furtherance Of War Services The Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce was doubly honored Sunday at the state board meeting meet-ing at the Newhouse hotel in Salt Lake City when two of its members mem-bers were elevated to high state executive positions. Ray L. Richards, Rich-ards, who has served a three-month three-month term as state vice-president, was unanimously chosen by the executive board to the office of state president, succeeding Dean L. Fisher of Cedar City, who recently entered the navy as an ensign. Through the resignation of D. Ned Sargent of Cedar City as secretary-treasurer to Mr. Fisher, Mr. Richards requested that Kimball J. Larsen of Springville be appointed to fill this position, which met with the approval of the board. Mr. Sargent was named a state vice-president vice-president to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Richards. Mr. Richards has been an ardent Jaycee worker for several years, assisting in the organization of the Springville club and serving as its first president. He has held numerous num-erous offices in the state organization, organiza-tion, and during his short term as vice-president has done a highly commendable job in the war activities activi-ties projects undertaken by the Jaycess throughout the state. Mr. Larsen is at the present time state chairman of aviation, and in the Springville organization is chairman of the publicity committee commit-tee and a member of the aviation committee. During the meeting Sunday, reports were heard from various committee chairmen on war activities, activi-ties, and projects to be followed through the year. Mr. Richards reported that, due to the government govern-ment order stopping enlistments, the Jaycee Marine recruiting program pro-gram would be changed to a Marine Mar-ine publicity project, urging inductees in-ductees to choose the Marine corps after induction. State chairmen also gave outlines of projects on public health, Christmas activities, agriculture, civilian defense and aviation. During the morning session, President Grant Thorn of the local club discussed bond sales projects, club accomplishment awards, educational edu-cational films and distinguished service awards. Also attending the meeting from Springville were Glenn Hansen, state director, and Lee Miner, chairman of the agriculture agri-culture committee. |
