Show sia, according to many observers, is "atheistic" but one should not conclude that a people hav lost their religion because they are compelled, at times, to restrict the privileges and power of an organized orga-nized church. This has happened many times in the history of mankind man-kind and will, undoubtedly, occur in the future. RELIGIOUS CHANGE NOTED IN RUSSIA There has been so much denunciation denun-ciation of Soviet Russia on the ground that it has wage unremitting unremit-ting warfare upon religion that it is interesting to consider the remarks re-marks of Cyril Forster Garbett, British Archbishop of York, now visiting in this country. The British Prelate admits that he "cannot read Stalin's mind" and therfore, cannot explain his motives "in permitting the revival of religious freedom." He adds, however, that "the Russian church now has a freedom which it has not had in centuries and the days of persecution are completely over." The Communist Party in Rus- |
