Show Young Couple United In Marriage In Salt Lake Temple Wednesday Miss Lillian Russell, daughter of Mrs. W. G. Russell, became the bride of Leland McKenzie Wednesday Wednes-day in the Salt Lake temple. In honor of the young couple, a dinner party was given Tuesday night at the home of Melba Sum-sion. Sum-sion. Dinner was served at small tables centered with spring flowers, flow-ers, and the entertaining rooms Were also decorated with spring flowers. ; Card games were the diversion of the evening, with high score prize going to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kindred. Guests attending who presented the couple with many lovely gifts were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kindred, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Sumsion, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sumsion, Mrsx Goldie Hu-ber, Hu-ber, George Johnson, and the hostess. hos-tess. Both Mr. and Mrs.' McKenzie are graduates of the Springville high school, and the bride is a graduate of the Brigham Young university. Mr. McKenzie attended the U. S. A. C. and the Brigham Young university. They will make their home in Springville. L-7 4-H CLUB WAS ORGANIZED Thursday at the home of the leader, lead-er, Mrs. Eva M. Bird. The year's program was discussed dis-cussed by the girls, and officers were elected as follows: Norma Whiting, president; Betty Keith, vice-president; Arlene Whiting, secretary-treasurer; Colleen Binks, cheer leader and song leader; Barbara Bar-bara Bird, reporter; Dorothy Lar-sen, Lar-sen, program chairman. BOOSTER CLUB MEMBERS HAD A PROGRESSIVE PARTY Saturday night, with refreshments refresh-ments being served at the. homes of the various club members early in the evening, and a show was enjoyed later. Following the show the girls assembled as-sembled at the home of Doreen Thyrett for a slumber party and early morning breakfast. MRS. CUTLER ENTERTAINED AVE DELMA CLUB MEMBERS at her- home Thursday evening. Bridge was played, with high score prize going to Mrs. Norma Noe and the guest prize to Florence Flor-ence DeGraw. Luncheon was served to the club members and to the following guests: Merle Packard, Viola Smith, and Pearl Smith, Springville; Spring-ville; Margaret Zabriskie, Maggie Crumb, Hilda Boyack, Mary Gro-tegut, Gro-tegut, and Ethelle Anderson, all of Spanish Fork. THE FIREMEN'S AUXILIARY WILL HAVE A SWIM PARTY Monday night, June 9, at Park Ro-She, beginning at 8 p. m., with t Mrs. Elavee Hutchinsen, Mrs. Phyllis Phyl-lis Nielson, and Mrs. Glenita Oller-ton, Oller-ton, acting as hostesses. All members of the auxiliary are urged to be in attendance. THE LEGION AUXILIARY WILL ELECT OFFICERS Wednesday night at the regular monthly meeting, which is scheduled sche-duled to begin at 8 p. m. in the Memorial hall. The meeting will be under the direction of President Ada Barron, and a good program is being arranged. ar-ranged. A BRIDE'S PARTY WAS GIVEN AT KEELEYS complimenting Mrs. Arnold W. Chapman, a recent bride, by her sister, Mrs. Florence Christensen, in the form of a miscellaneous shower. Luncheon was served to about 30 relatives and friends and the guest of honor received many lovely gifts. Several other social functions are planned for the near future. JOVALTY CLUB MEMBERS WERE ENTERTAINED at the home of Mrs. Afton Palfrey-man Palfrey-man Friday at the last party of the club season. Luncheon was served early in the evening, after which bridge was played with high score prize going to Carrie Jolley. Members present were Luell Best, Carrie Jolley, May Bird, Merle Packard, Mabel Simkins, Margaret Sumsion, Louise Brown, Ann Stewart, Sarabell Stewart, Clara Childs, and Lucille Packard. LADIES LITERARY CLUB WAS ENTERTAINED Wednesday evening at their last regular meeting of the season held at the home of Mrs. Earl Groes-beck. Groes-beck. Following a delicious luncheon served by the hostess, Mrs. E. T. Crandall reviewed in an interesting interest-ing manner the play, "The Time of Our Lives." President Madge Thorn presided and a report on club activities during dur-ing the past year was read by Mrs. Emma Jacobsen, club secretary. Reports on a proposed program for the coming year as suggested at the recent district club convention was given by several members. Russell Groesbeck entertained with saxophone selections, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion. In attendance were nineteen club members. LaVETA HOUTZ WAS FETED AT A BIRTHDAY PARTY held in the form of a canyon party Thursday night. A delicious chicken supper was served early in the evening to the following: LaVeta .Houtz, Mable Bennett, Naomi Binks, Elna Whiting, Whit-ing, Florence Bird, Melvin Perry, Glen Williams, Lavell Killpack, Lorin Killpack, and Leland Hatfield. Hat-field. A large, beautifully decorated birthday cake was given as a surprise sur-prise to the guest of honor. VERSATILITY MEMBERS ENJOYED A CANYON PARTY Saturday afternoon at Balsam ip Hobble Creek canyon. Hostesses were Mrs. Burt Taylor and Mrs. Freeman Bird. Canyon games were played and a typical canyon dinner was enjoyed en-joyed by twelve couples. PARANADA CLUB MEMBERS WILL MEET TONIGHT at the home of Miss Virginia Sim--kins. All members are invited to be present. MISS SHTRLENE POULSON WAS ENTERTAINED as guest of honor at a party given Thursday evening on the occasion of her twelfth birthday. Games were played and dainty refreshments were served to the following: Peggy Crandall, Kathleen Kath-leen Peterson, Dorothy Mae Groesbeck, Groes-beck, Bonnie Taylor, Jean Boyer, Elda Ray Huntsman, Mildred Story, Wynette Smith, Margaret Harrison, Phyllis Kindred, Monty Groesbeck, Hal Perham, Kent Miner, Buddy Watts, R. G. Hatfield, Hat-field, Hal Eggertsen, Harold Metcalf, Met-calf, Dale Diamond, and Jay Lowe. Many lovely gifts were received by the honored guest. ABOUT 150 MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS WERE FETED at the City park Tuesday afternoon after-noon at an ' annual entertainment. The program was under the direction di-rection of Mrs. W. W. Clyde, of the Y. W. M. I. A. stake presidency, presi-dency, and included stunts by the various wards and musical numbers. num-bers. Miss Colleen Hurst of Maple-ton Maple-ton gave a tribute to mothers, and Mrs. C. G. Russell responded. Mrs. Hannah Clyde gave a talk during the afternoon on the "Word of Wisdom." In conclusion refreshments were served according to a green and gold color scheme by girls from the various wards. Mrs. Roy Hales of Shelley, Idaho, is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Peterson. |
