Show ARMY AIR FORCE IN NEED OF AIRCRAFT WORKMEN The army air force is In urgent need of mechanic learners for training on aircraft work. Due to the critical shortage of aircraft mechanics of all types, it is necessary ne-cessary to train men and women for this work. Appointments are made as a result of the mechanic learner examination, which consists con-sists of problems in simple mechanics me-chanics and arithmetic. No previous pre-vious training or experience is required. re-quired. The mechanic learner examination ex-amination is held weekly throughout through-out the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Mechanic learners employed by the army air forces receive $1200 per annum, plus overtime pay, during the preliminary training period of approximately - 90 days. After satisfactory completion of the 90-day training course, mechanic me-chanic learners will be promoted to mechanic helper at $1500 per annum (plus overtime), with opportunity op-portunity for further advancement to junior mechanic, $1860 a year, and journeyman mechanic, $2200 a year. Applicants much have reached their 16th birthday. There are no maximum age limits. Men in se- lective service classification I-A cannot be appointed. Women and older men and physically handicapped handi-capped persons arc urged to apply. Interested persons should apply to the secretary, board of U. S. civil service examiners, at any first or second class post office, or to any United States employment employ-ment service office. Applications are not desired from persons engaged on war work unless the position applied for calls for a use of higher skills than the worker is now using in his present employment. |
