Show Armed Forces Gene E. Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Emmett Bird, and Joe Salisbury, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Salisbury, have both completed their 50-hour flight tests in the aviation corps of the U. S. armed forces and are ready for the next phase of basic training on the road to securing their wings. Both are located in camps in California. Frank Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis K. Johnson of this city, has enlisted in the air corps and is at present stationed at McClellan Field, Sacramento, Calif. Another son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Harold, is with the U. S. armed forces stationed in India. His parents here receive a letter from him about every four weeks. He mentions much of interest concerning con-cerning the country and the people of India, but tells nothing of the war operation, his parents report. He states that the soldiers may eat in cafes there but the army food is very much better. |
