Show o "Irene Hird Is Wed To U. S. Navy Officer Announcement is made of the marriage of Irene Bird, of San Francisco, Calif., daughter of Mrs. Myrtle Bird of Mapleton, to Lt. Edward Devoe of the U. S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Devoe of Tenafly, N. J. The ceremony took place Nov. 18, in San Francisco, with the chaplain performing the ceremony. cere-mony. The bride was charmingly attired at-tired in an aqua-blue dressmaker suit with contrasting accessories of cerise and an orchid corsage. Her only attendant was Virginia Bird of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly for-merly of Mapleton, who wore a black afternoon dress with gardenia gar-denia corsage. Irwin Bird, brother of the bride, gave her away, and Earl B. Mendenhall of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., was best man. Following the wedding, a dinner din-ner party was enjoyed by the following: fol-lowing: Virginia Bird, Irwin Bird, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Mendenhall and the bride and groom. The couple left shortly after the wedding for a short honeymoon honey-moon trip to Salt Lake City and then to Seattle, Wash., where Lt. Devoe will report for duty on a new aircraft carrier. The bride is a graduate of the Springville high school and attended at-tended Pasadena (Calif.) Junior college. Lt. Devoe was a pre-law student at Lafayette College, Eas-ton, Eas-ton, Pa., before going into the Navy. He received his commission commis-sion in 1941, and has served on ships in the Carribean, South Atlantic At-lantic and Pacific. |
