Show DOUBLE HEADER STAGED IN NEW GYMNASIUM A large enthusiastic audience thronged the new Springville High school gym Friday night to see two fast games of basketball that thrilled spectators throughout both performances. The Springville Red Devils matched basket for basket with Coach Wayne Millet's fast-passing Davis Darts. The game was tied a number of times, being 15-15 at the half-period, and only in the last minute of play was the knot untied when Gene Robertson, Springville center, easily converted convert-ed a free throw followed by a field goal before the final period to make the score read 34-30 for the Red Devils. Captain Juan Whiting Whit-ing was high point man for the locals. Coach Eddie Kimball's B.Y.U. Cougars played an outstanding practice game with the Provo Lions all-star five in a much-enjoyed much-enjoyed added attraction for Springville basketball fans. The score read 2 7-2 6 for the Lions at the half, but the Cougars rallied and at the close of the Becond period had mounted the scoreboard score-board reading to 61-53. Glenn Allen, two-season campaigner cam-paigner for the Cougars, and Frank "Skinny" Fullmer, a sophomore sopho-more who played on the local quint while in prep school, were the high-point men for the cats. The tall basket-pitching, former for-mer all-conference B.Y.U. man, Ralph Crowton of the Lions, was the outstanding performer of the evening, being high-scorer with 23 points to his credit. |
