Show POST OFFICE TO GET SPECIAL MAILING MACHINE I An electric canceling machine has been recently received at the local post office from the postal executive department and will soon be installed by a government govern-ment mechanic. This machine will relieve much of the congestion conges-tion during the rush prior to outgoing out-going mails. Postmaster J. Emmett Bird' has also received a letter from the chief inspector at Denver, Colo., in which the inspector says that he will have a representative in Springville in the near future to make a thorough inspection regarding re-garding advancement of the village vil-lage delivery service to that of city delivery. One of the requirements re-quirements demanded by the department de-partment is that all streets be marked and houses numbered. If advanced to city delivery service, serv-ice, the post office will make two deliveries daily to the business section of Springville. Postal receipts for the year 1939 were $12,037.37, the largest amount on record for Springville. Postal receipts for the month of December were $1880.10. Forty-ilve Forty-ilve thousand one and one-half cent stamps were used on cards this year as compared to 27,500 used last year. Approximately 650 packages were handled daily on outgoing and incoming mail on the three days preceding the 25th, three extra men were used during the rush and the mail was dispatched dis-patched to patrons on scheduled time. Residents cooperated splendidly wilh the post office aud much heavy mailing of parcel post was done early. |
