Show H First Ward Captures Stake Title; Will Enter Dist Tourney Winners Of M Men Title Honors For Fourth Consecutive Year; Third Wins Second Place In 1942 Race First ward M Men won the Kolob stake M Men basketball crown for the fourth consecutive year here last Thursday and Saturday nights as a result of a double victory over Mapleton and Third wards, respectively. This club will represent the Kolob stake in the annual district six tournament tourna-ment to be held in American Fork beginning next Wednesday, February Febru-ary 18. Coach DeVere Weight has a squad of only eight men this year as compared with about twice that many in the past three years when the First warders have won the stake title.. Squad members include in-clude Creed Weight, Bert Cher-rington, Cher-rington, Grant Weight, Guy Bird, Woodrow Weight, Dee Sanford, Bob Peirce and Scott Beardall. Those fellows have won 11 out of their 12 stake games. The tournament, which was set earlier in the year for the American Ameri-can Fork site, will be composed of teams representing approximately 20 outlying stakes in central, southern and southeastern Utah, as well as parts of Colorado. Final M Men Results . . . In the final local M Men contests con-tests played here last Thursday and Saturday, First won over Mapleton Ma-pleton Thursday 30-25, and turned back the contending Third warders ward-ers Saturday night 31 to 26. Third defeated the stubborn Fourth ward crew 28 to 26 Thursday, and the Fourth ward team defeated Second 22 to 15 in the other Saturday contest. Final Team Standings Won Lost Pet. The First warders will play the Tintic town club here tonight at 8 p. m. in a practice duel. The Kolob champs defeated the Salem team last Monday night 38 to 32 in the Salem "cracker box."
