Due to increased war activity, the Red Cross is in need of more funds than ever in the history of the organization, to carry on the work. Should the funds contributed contrib-uted by this community bring comfort com-fort to only a few men who are fighting in some foreign land, the money will have served its purpose. pur-pose. The Red Cross not only aids in time of war, but in serious disaster, disas-ter, their services abate much suffering. suf-fering. Services to the armed forces include in-clude entertainment and comfort to men at home and abroad at Red Cross recreational centers, serving refreshments and offering other services. The helping hand of the organization reaches to the far corners of the world. The inquiry service of the Red Cross has brought relief and comfort com-fort to thousands of anxious relatives rela-tives of members in the armed forces. The Red Cross forms the communication link between war victims of various nations. The Red Cross sponsors home nursing classes, which has become very vital with men at war and many mothers working. Prisoners of war are often given packages from the Red Cross containing con-taining food and other articles not provided them. Bon voyage kits are provided soldiers on leaving for foreign duty by the Red Cross. Many thousands of bandgages are provided by the Red Cross for use on the battlefields and in hospitals. In addition to the wartime services, serv-ices, it is stated that millions are spent annually for victims of disaster. dis-aster.
