Show Club tftotes KAPPA PHI LAMBDA J JCNTEIITAINTSD THC11SDAY Mrs. Marjorle Miner and Miss Yvonne Childg were hostesses to members of the Kappa Phi Lambda club Thursday evening at the home of the latter. Luncheon was served first from tables centered with daffodils. Entertainment for the evening included a speech on appreciation of music by Howard Salisbury, and he played several of his illustrative illustra-tive recordings. The next club meeting will be held Thursday evening, April 10, at the home of Miss Hazel Bray. WE HEADERS HEAR HOOK REVIEW Mrs. Howard Sumsion reviewed review-ed the book, "Madame Dorothea," Doro-thea," at a meeting of We Readers Read-ers held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. G. B. Orton. Luncheon was served to Mrs. Howard Thorpe, Mrs. Leon Bird, Mrs. Roy Strong, Mrs. Maurice Anderson, Mrs. Roe Thorne, Mrs. Warren Beardall, Mrs. Howard Sumsion, Mrs. Ronald Thorpe, and Mrs. R. C. Petty was a special guest. HEl'XE MERE CLUB HSTERTA I.VED WEDNESDAY Mrs. Maurine Haymond was hostess to members of the Jeune Mere club at her home Wednesday evening. Diversion of the evening was a review of the book, "No Shelter for the Heart," by Mrs. Dona Alyn, given in an interesting manner man-ner by Mrs. Blanche Beal. Musical numbers included a piano solo by Robert Thorn, and a vocal trio by Margaret Peirce, Grace Holley, and Naomi Peirce. Members present were Florence Allan, Margaret Blackett, Edna Clyde, Beth ' Jensen, Florence Nielson, Minnie Richards, Naomi Thorn, Marie Whiting, Mabel Wright, and True Clyde. Special guests were Mrs. Beu-lah Beu-lah Whiting, Mrs. Pat Whiting, Mrs. Marjoiie Miner, and Mrs. Tess Tyler. PARAXADA CLUB HEARS THREE-ACT PLAY Carrying out a combination Easter Eas-ter and spring theme, a delightful party was1 enjoyed by members of the Paranada club Thursday evening at the Payzant home, with Miss Dorothy Richardson acting as hostess. 'LADIES' LITERARY CLUB HAS ART PROGRAM Members of the Ladles' Literary club held their annual art program Thursday evening. Pictures of the current show were discussed by Glen Turner, after which the group enjoyed a talk on Utah artists by Professor B. F. Larsen of the Brigham Young university. A delicious luncheon was served serv-ed later at the home of Mrs. W. H. Brown, and an excellent program pro-gram was given. Mrs. Lewis Bird entertained with violin selections, accompanied by Mrs. LaCelle Sumsion, Sum-sion, and Mrs. F. C. Packard gave two vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs. Sumsion. Mrs. Paul Thorn, club president, presi-dent, was in charge of the program, pro-gram, and announced the next meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Rhea Straw. JOVALTY CLUB HAS XO HOSTESS PARTY An enjoyable no hostess party was held by members of the Jo-valty Jo-valty club Saturday night at the Valley Tavern. Guests were served dinner from one long table centered with daffodils daf-fodils and yellow forsyth. Later in the evening bridge was played, with high score prize going to Carrie Jolley. Each guest brought a gift and the high score winner was allowed to- select the gift desired from those that were brought. Members present were Luell Best, Myrle Packard, Margaret Sumsion, Mabel Simkins, Claire Childs, Afton Palfreyman, Lucille Packard, Ann Stewart, Sarabell Stewart, Mary Bird, Carrie Jolley, Jol-ley, and Helen Robbins. A delicious spring luncheon was served early in the evening, with miniature Easter baskets topped with special Easter greetings given to each guest as favors. Later, the three-act clay, "The Old Maid," was given In an especially espe-cially interesting manner by Miss Maurine Moffitt from Provo. Members present were Merlene Tew, Mildred Larsen, Tonie Fox, Fern Ostler, Virginia Simkins, Teddy Ted-dy Thorpe, Norda Finlinson, Aur-lene Aur-lene Christeusen, Mary Boyer, and Mrs. Fay Lundquist was a special guest. THETA TAU CLUB EXTERTAIXED WEBXESDAY Carrying out an Easter theme, an enjoyable party was given for members of the Theta Thau club Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Elva Tipton. Luncheon was served first from tables centered with daffodils. Diversion of the evening was a review of the book, "Random Harvest," Har-vest," by James Hilton, given by Mrs. G. Lowr'y Anderson. Special guests present were Mrs. Evelyn Boyer, Mrs. Alice Crawford, Craw-ford, Miss Helen Tipton, Mrs. Laura Wilding, and members attending at-tending were Mrs. Lois Miller, Mrs. Norma Child, Mrs. Fern Crandall, Mrs. Lanette Olsen, Mrs. Berniece Rigtrup, Mrs. Ruth Sumsion, Sum-sion, Mrs. Gladys Averett, Mrs. Jean Brown, and the hostess. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, April 16. A recent study of eight major aircraft compares showed that they had increased their weekly hiring rate nearly 300 per cent in the course of one year. CULTURAL ARTS CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS Mrs. Cora Ellis was hostess to members of the Cultural Arts club Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Inez Harmer. Entertainment included two 'readings by Lillian Binks and Mrs. Mary Fillmore gave a paper on Utah artists. Officers were reelected as follows: fol-lows: Delia Baxter, president; Ida Packard, vice-president; Naomi Peirce, secretary. Miss Grace Holley Hol-ley was voted a new member. Luncheon was served to the following: Mrs. Mary Fillmore, Miss Margaret Peirce, Miss Delia Baxter, Miss Naomi Peirce, Miss Ida Packard, Miss Aileen McKen-zie, McKen-zie, Miss Zelma Thorpe, Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Christensen, Mrs. LaRee Al-leman, Al-leman, Miss Clara Harmer, -Mrs. Elzina Laney, Miss Elaine Crandall, Cran-dall, and Mrs. Theora Peterson.
