Show JAMES THOMPSON OBSERVES 82nd BIRTHDAY Commemorating his eighty-second birthday, James L. Thompson was honored at a birthday dinner Thursday at the home of a son, Elton Thompson. A son of Thomas Patterson and Sime Ann Strong Thompson, he was born April 3, 1859, in Camp-tie, Camp-tie, Louisiana. Mr. Thompson declared that as a child he always had to make his own living because his father and brother were called to fight in the Civil war. His father was killed during the conflict. Mr. Thompson married Julia Weaver, December 11, 1896, at Camptie, Natchitoches county, La. The couple were converted to the church and came to Utah with six children. He has been a ward teacher and at present is a high priest. For the past 11 years he has spent most of his time working in the temple. He is the father of 12 children, child-ren, six of whom are living: Elton Thompson and Mrs. Frank Taylor of Springville, Mrs. Reuben Tucker of Manti, Mrs. Lamoyne Jackson of Fairview, Mrs. Loren Walker of Meridian, Idaho, and Durant Thompson of Cedar City. |
