"It is astounding to see the number of boys in Scouting who have never been camping. In Utah and Nevada there should be no such problem because of the finer outdoor recreational areas," he said. He declared that 12 out of every 30 boys in the nation were Scouts and that surveys had shown that 2 3 out of 30 wanted to become Scouts. Declaring that the greatest need today is religious tolerance, the nation's leader of boys said that 9,500,000 Scouts and former Scouts would be a great lever to retain religious freedom in the United States.
