Show EMPLOYERS WILL NOT PROFIT BY FREE LABOR W. L. Mildenhall, manager of the Provo office of the U. S. Employment Em-ployment Service for Utah, said Monday that the use of prisoners of war on civilian work would not be allowed in any way to displace or to break down the standards of the free American worker. No employer will be able to profit by the use of prisoner labor. If the prevailing rate of pay tor free labor goes up during the time when prisoners are engaged on some project, the rate which the employer must pay in to the U. b. Treasury for the use of prisoners will also go up. "The handling of P??ne ? war is a matter in which the WMC shares responsibility with the war to the need for prisoners of : vmr m every instance where it is contem plated to use these prisoners for civilian work." |
