Show BUILDERS AT THE ANNUAL MEET HERE SATURDAY J. W. Grant Nominated For A'ice-President During the Meeting More than 175 builders representing repre-senting contracting firms, defense plant corporations, and industrial enterprises, attended the annual meeting of the Intermountain Branch of Associated General Contractors Con-tractors in Springville Saturday. Pat Gibbons of Salt Lake City, president of the association, was in charge of the meeting. J. W. Grant was general chairman of the arrangements, and Verl Whiting Whit-ing was toastmaster at the ban-quet ban-quet v The entertainment began with a tour of the Geneva Steel Works, preceded by lunch at noon. The group then assembled at the Memorial Me-morial hall for the business meeting. meet-ing. Featuring the afternoon meeting meet-ing was the nomination of officers to be voted on at the annual January Janu-ary meeting to be held in Salt Lake. Clarence Waterfall, Ogden, and Ellis Barker, Salt Lake, were nominated for president; J. W. Grant, Springville, and Ted Jacob-sen Jacob-sen of Salt Lake City, for vice-president. vice-president. Ed Clyde of Springville, was nominated on the list for directors. di-rectors. During the afternoon meeting, Richard Freed of the office of de- fense transportation, urged cooperation coop-eration of the contractors in conserving con-serving tires and gasoline during the present critical times. D. Howe Moffat, executive manager of the war finance committee, outlined the role the construction compa7 nies will play in the January war-loan war-loan drive. A resolution pledging the support of the contractors to the purchase of war bonds was proposed by D. H. Christensen and passed by the group. Other speakers during the afternoon after-noon and evening banquet, included includ-ed Mark E. Peterson, general manager man-ager of the Deseret News, as principal prin-cipal guest speaker, also Ora Bun-dy, Bun-dy, director of the post-war planning,, plan-ning,, and Hamilton G. Park, the "Senator From Sandpit." Following the meeting, a banquet ban-quet was served and in addition to the talks, a delightful musical entertainment en-tertainment was given during the evening. |
