Show Count ry Should Adopt Best Economic Plan "Riioh of our countries should be allowed to pursue its own unique uni-que economic experiment unimpeded unim-peded by the other," declared Eric Johnson, president of the U. ' S. Chnmber of Commerce, In speaking- to a hundred leaders of Soviet Russian trade. This is a common sense policy. There is no reason In the world why the two nations should not cooperate with each other, whenever when-ever practicable, as they seek the answer to the age-old problem that has confronted the human race for many centuries. Naturally, the people of this country believe that we have the best economic system. The Rns- sians naturally believe in their system. What happens in the future fu-ture will determine which system is the best for the people of the two countries. We have never had much sympathy sym-pathy with the Americans who were afraid of the competition of Soviet Russia. If the Soviet system is superior to our own, it will inevitably supplant our economic eco-nomic organization. If our system is the best, there is no way in the world to halt its progress and extension. ex-tension. As we view the tremendous experiment, ex-periment, underway in Russia, we are inclined to appreciate the fact that the Russians are making it. If it works, in whole or in part, then the world will be so much the better "Und able to adopt such portions of the Soviet scheme as proves superior, without paying the costly price that always attaches at-taches to social and economic revolution. |
