Show CANNERY NEEDS WORKERS FOR SEASON'S RUN Factory To Begin Processing Of Peas Next Monday The Springville canning factory will open for the season's run Monday and approximately 75 men, women and children are needed to process the various crops, according to W. R. Ed-dington, Ed-dington, manager. If a sufficient number of local workmen are not available it will be necessary to hire foreign labor and townspeople are therefore being be-ing urged to register immediately for work. Registration may be at the canning factory office or at the chamber of commerce office. The pea crop, which is somewhat some-what later this season, is of excellent ex-cellent quality and good stands are reported by the growers. A total of 700 acres of peas are contracted by the canning company. com-pany. The factory expects to run continuously con-tinuously through the season. Approximately 20 acres of beans are contracted and after beans, cherries and apricots will be canned. can-ned. Later approximately 410 acres of corn will be processed, followed by about 250 acres of tomatoes. Later in the season, peaches will be processed. The canning plant is using labor la-bor from 14 years up, with those under 16 years being required to secure work permits from the chamber of commerce office. |
