Show i I Pony League Nears Playoffs; Regular League Play Continues 1 ! Springville Pony leaguers will compete with ; I Spanish Fork, Grantsville and Heber for two i teams to enter the tri-state finals in Cedar Citv 1 I Aug. 7, 8, and 9. All-star teams competing in Cedar City in-; in-; elude teams from Utah, Idaho I and Wyoming. The first games of the play-! play-! off to determine which two teams will represent this area will be held July 26. Springville's Spring-ville's all-stars will travel to Grantsville and Heber comes to I Spanish Fork. On Monday, July 29, the four teams move to Springville's Memorial park where there will be a double header played. The I two losers will meet at 6 p.m. and the two winners of the first playoff games will meet at 8. The losers of this game will meet the winner of the 6 o'clock game to determine the other team to enter the meet at Cedar Ce-dar City. Springville has already put in ' I a bid for the 1958 tournament here which should prove very interesting should they get the meet. Springvillo Team Listed on the Pony League All-star team for Springville are the following top-notch i players: Billy Mayne, Frank Headman, Benny Hunt, Jimmy Sheffield, Don Holdaway, Paul Cherrington, Gordon Robbins, Jimmy Simkins, Sid Whiting, John Child, John Miller, Grant Palfreyman, Ted Murray, Grant Roylance, Michael Gardner and Jeff Miner. Week's Results Results in the Pony League play for the week shows Superior Super-ior Asphalt 7, Springville Bank, 0; Brookside Market 16, Center Service, 1; Brookside Market 9, Superior Asphalt, 1; Snow Dairy 7, Miner's Auto 6. . This leaves Brookside Market, Mar-ket, Miner's Auto, and Snow Dairy all three tied for the lead. However, with tonight's game between Miner's Auto and the Brookside Market team the lead may be held by the winner. Center Service and Snow Dairy play in the other game tonight. The Miner's Auto vs Brookside Market game should be a thriller. thril-ler. Both teams have one game each chalked up to their credit in the two times the teams have met. Don Holdaway for Brookside Brook-side and Grant- Palfreyman for Miner's, two of the finest Pony Leaguers, will put on a pitching duel which should prove very interesting.
