Show 'Springville Man Commended in Novel of Arabia Byron R. Wardle, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Wardle of this city, is given notable commendation com-mendation in a novel hich has just been released by the publishers, publish-ers, Harcourt and Brace, New York, it was announced this week. The book "Qataban and Sheba" is the true story of the expedition of Dr. Wendell Phillips to southern south-ern Arabia in archaeological research re-search for evidence of the biblical history of Sheba. During this particular par-ticular expedition sponsored by the American Foundation for the Study of Man, Byron was located in Aden as administrative officer in the United States consulate. He performed many acts of invaluable inval-uable assistance to Dr. Phillips which contributed largely to the success of the expedition. In later years Byron's association with Wendell has continued. Byron acts in a non-salaried capacity as assistant to the president presi-dent of the American Foundation for the Study of Man and a fast friendship has 'arisen from those days in 1950 during the trials of the famed archaeological expedition expedi-tion described in Qataban and Sheba. Byron is employed in the head offices of the American Express company in New York City as assistant manager of the foreign remittance and exchange department depart-ment specializing in sales promotion promo-tion and public relations work. The book is being launched this week by an exhibition of Wendell's Wen-dell's archaeological treasures in the main exhibition room of the Chrysler building in New York Citv. . |
