Show C. of C. News An Obligation To Everyone Editor's Note The following item was submited by the officers of-ficers of the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce and is the first in a series pointing to the importance of supporting the Chamber of Commerce. Again, as citizens, it is time for each of us to decide whether we are going to live and participate par-ticipate in our community's welfare, or "off" our community, commun-ity, partaking of all the good things which others create without our help. Springville is almost the center of the greatest development devel-opment that has yet ever been offered to our state. We are already benefiting in jobs let to our citizens, in the amount of about 3 millions of dollars. This is a small beginning for what is to come. It, will last a period of only a few years. The great benefits are to come after this primary phase. These will be the permanent benefits. Who is going to get this great future economic and cultural prize? Nearly all inquires for any development come first to a Chamber of Commerce. The C of C can function only to the amount of service and funds that are donated. It has no other income or means of operation. oper-ation. So who will get this great prize spoken of? Certainly, Certain-ly, it will, not be the community commun-ity that lets its C of C down. Growth naturally comes as nearly the center of permanency permanen-cy as possible, providing that center can give its families the comfort and cultural benefits it seeks. Springville has almost anything for which a family of good citizenship could ask. But who knows about it except Springville? We have not yet told the world that we exist, let alone that we are one of the best located cities in America Amer-ica for education, . recreation, culture, etc., in other words the best place in which to rear a family. And they wont know us unless un-less our C of C tells them. Already Al-ready we have thousands of in-queries in-queries from people asking where to come. They didn't come to Springville C of C, they don't know we're here. They came to the State Capitol, and the State Capitol sends them to us because our C of C asked them. But the C of C can't answer many of them without maney to buy stamps and paper, and to get the letters let-ters typed. And, by the way, nobody working with the C of C gets paid, except a very meager hourly wage for the typist. With all the other activities our merchants and professional men contribute to, they have about reached their limits. It is now up to a lot of us citizens who have property, farm products, pro-ducts, labor and our town to sell. No one can live in this valely for the next fifty years without deriving tremendous benefit from the boom ahead. Let's al participate in making Springville the center of the boom as well as the center geographically. The C of C office of-fice is open 10:30 to 12:30 Mon. thru Fri., or, mail your check to the Chamber of Commerce. |
