Show Minutes of Cify Council Meeting Held Monday Evening at City Ha!! The regular meeting of the Springville City Council was held Monday March 4, 1957 at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers. cham-bers. Mayor A. W. Cherrington was in the chair. Roll call showed the following follow-ing present: CI. William G. Ruff, CI. Ernest A. Strong, Jr., CI. Harold J. Whiting, CI. Ralph Child, CI. J. Grant Nielson, Attorney At-torney Jackson B. Howard and Recorder Lloyd J. Ashcraft. Prayer was offered by CI. Strong. The minutes of the previous meeting held February 18, 1957 were read and approved. Ted Best presented a plot plan of a small subdivision to be known as the Chase Subdivision, Subdi-vision, located at approximately approximate-ly 755 East North from Fourth South. City Engineer John Neff to check it over and present it for approval at the next council meeting. A number were present for the bid opening for the construction con-struction of sidewalks and curb and gutter to be known as Improvement Im-provement District No. 7. The bids submitted as follows: Stephen Miller, $19,638.40 ; Max Jones, 18,485.64; Brashard and Stark, 20,365.11; W. W. Clyde & Company, 29,675.84; Thom Construction Co., 18,-378.20. 18,-378.20. It was moved by CI. Whiting and seconded by CI. Strong the job be awarded to the low bidder bid-der Thorn Construction Company. Com-pany. Motion passed unanimously. unani-mously. A group was also present for the bid opening of the five city pastures. The high bidders as follows: Pasture No. 1 Oliver Dalton, $1,076.00 for one year or $3,-028.00 $3,-028.00 for three years. Pasture No. 2 Frank Aver-ett Aver-ett & Sons, $1,121.00 for one year or $3,363.00 for three years. Pasture No. 3 Ruphas and Kieth Averett, 1,411.00 for one year or $4,233.00 for three years. Pasture No. i George Ed Averett, 611.00 for one year or $1,833.00 for three years. Pasture No. 5 Andrew Peterson, Pet-erson, 650.00 for one year or $1,950.00 for three years. It was moved by CI. Strong and seconded by CI. Ruff the bids be awarded to the high bidders on a three year basis. Motion passed unanimously. Engineer John Neff recommended recom-mended that recording meters be placed at various locations in the water system to record the flow of the water. It was moved by CI. The Mayor, City Councilmen, leaders of the civic clubs, the churches, P.T.A. groups, principal's prin-cipal's of schools and others are being invited to a special meeting meet-ing relating to the recent school census taken. The meeting to be held Monday, March 11 at the Nebo School District office in Spanish Fork. The City to advertise for bids for a truck to be used by the electric department. The bids to be opened at the council meeting March 18, 1957 at 7:30 p.m. City Attorney Jackson B. Howard authorized by the City Council to defend Howard Allan, Al-lan, police officer, in a suit for wrongful arrest, brought against him while in the line of his duty. The Mayor and members of the Council met with Ray Hal-verson Hal-verson and Willard Kemp of the State Road Commission to consider lighting on Main Street including the new highway high-way to be constructed on South Main Street. They are to present pre-sent estimates of cost and a proposal. The Council approved extension exten-sion of the sewer on Fifth East South of Seventh South. A memorandum agreement dealing with the exchange of city owned property at Memorial Memor-ial Park and that of Kolob stake owned property at the site for the new stake house, between the city and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was signed y Mayor A. Strong, Jr. A report from the State Board of Health on water samples taken at the new storage stor-age tank in February showed the water free from contamination. contamina-tion. It was moved by CI.
