Show Water Normal ' Report Shows Indications point to a normn year so far as water condition in this area are concerned witl an average amount of snow ii the canyons plus recent heav rains which have given the en tire valley a soaking. According to a report fron Wayne Francis, water commit sioner, the snow coverage oi the Daniels Strawberry water shed as of March 1, measure, 47,1 inches with water conten of 14.60 inches. This compare to a ten-year average of 47. inches of snow with water con tent of 14.78 inches. Last year however, the snov at this time of year on th watershed measuercd 58.2 in ches and had water content o 11.04 inches. The deepest snow on th course since measurements b gan was in 1952, the year the big snows, when 70.4 inchc were reported. Water Available Available water in Strawbei ry reservoir reported by Con missioner Francis as of Mare 1, is 138,870 acre feet con pared to a ten-year average ( 153,694 acre feet. The water available in th reservoir at present is less tha it has been since 1953 howevei when the heavy snows swelk the water to 246, 620 acre fee' Last year at this time year, there were 149,880 aci r feet. The fewest acre feet t water in the reservoir was riy corded in 1935 when there wei but 20,900 acre feet and in 194! there were only 97,260 aci feet. The total inflow for the per iod from Oct. 1 to March :i was 10,025 acre feet and th February inflow was reporte' at 2,310 acre feet. At the East Portal, snow i reported to be 37.4 inches dec ! and at the Strawberry Divide 60 inches. |
