Show Springville To Receive College Study Relative To School Housing Problem . Pursuant to the school housing problems confronting the citizens of this community and through the efforts of Merrill Gottfredson and associate members of the Planning and Zoning board of this city and Dales Despain of the Utah County Planning Commission, Springville is to be the recipient of a comprehensive college study by the University of Utah on Friday, September 29. Professor Roger Bailey of the University has expressed a willingness willing-ness to make our junior high school problem a problem for class discussion dis-cussion and study. Professor Bailey will head a class of twenty-five advanced engineering students who will come to Springville and compile com-pile all available information pursuant pur-suant to our particular junior high school housing needs. From this information, each student will select a tentative sight and draw plans according to the most modernistic mod-ernistic design and function. Then a commitee of judges, headed by Professor Bailey," will weigh each point submitted according to its individual merit and from this composit information the group will draft a master plan. This service will be without cost, obligation or restraint upon the citizens of Spring-ville or to the Nebo School District according to Mr. Gottfredson and, he adds, this service will be of inestimat-able inestimat-able value. Mr. Gottfredson explains that this is an outgrowth of a chance acquaintance with Professor Bailey while attending the recently held Municipal League convention at the Newhouse Hotel where he represented rep-resented our local Planning and Zoning board at the opening session. ses-sion. A meeting and luncheon is being arranged here for the University group under the direction of chairman Wm. Phillips. Members of the school board, city council and planning board will be in attendance at-tendance to support available information in-formation and to assist with the overall plan. Sincere appreciation is expressed by the committee in advance to Professor Bailey and his group for this splendid service and also to welcome them as guests to this community. |
