Packard of Springville, president of the Springville Banking Company, as a regional chairman for the Utah Savings BondsETAOISHRDE T T nounced this week by Chas. L. Smith, state chairman, who said that this appointment is in line with a new organizational set-up for Savings Bonds now being effected ef-fected for the state. Mr. Packard will serve as chairman chair-man of Region 3, comprising six counties Daggett, Duchesne, Juab, Uintah, Utah and Wasatch where he will be responsible for the organization of county bonds committees, and the active support of the Savings Bonds program and its relation to the sound money policies of the U. S. Treasury. In addition to his position as head of the Springville Banking Company, Mr. Packard is on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Utah Wholesale Grocery company, and is state agricultural ag-ricultural chairman of the Utah Bankers Association. Packard Is Named Bond Chairman - (Continued from page One) uate of the University of Utah, where he affiliated with Sigma Nu fraternity, he has a community and civic leadership record in Utah county which includes service as president of the Springville Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce, president of the Kiwanis Club, commander of American Legion Post No. 28, and Utah county Centennial chairman. Recalling that he previously served the U. S. Savings Bonds division of the Treasury department depart-ment (1941-43) as its first Utah county chairman since inception of the current continuing program, Mr. Packard said, "The sale of Savings Bonds to individual savers is just as essential an element of government financing now as it was in wartime. Like all thinking Americans, we bankers recognize that sound money is the basis for our military security as well as our economic strength. One way we can all give effective help in establishing es-tablishing and maintaining a sound economy in this country is to give renewed, vigorous support to the U. S. Savings Bonds program." |
