Show 5 VFW Marble Tournament Finalists Selected; Tourney Here Saturday All entries are in for the VFW grade school marble mar-ble tournament which will be staged at the Westside school Saturday morning-, April 21 beginning at 10 a.m. Platte Watts is general chair-3 man and he will be assisted by other VFW members. The public is invited to see the tournment. Should the weather be stormy, the tourney will probably be held Monday at 4 p.m. officers stated. Winners in the various grade schools have been determined and first and second place entries in each school are listed as follows: Grant Arnie Strait, Joe Peterson; Peter-son; Jefferson Jimmy Vincent, J. R. Peay; Brookside Jimmy Laney, Raymand Bird; West side D a r r e 1 Erickson, Wendell Booth; Lincoln Eddie Mellor, Howard Jackson. Pairings for the first round of play will pit Eddie Mellor against Wendell Booth, Jimmy Laney and J. R. Peay, Darrel Erickson and Joe Peterson, Arnie Strait and Howard Jackson, Jimmy Vincent and Raymond Bird. Winners of first and second places in the tournament will be given trophies, with each of the other contestants receiving pins for their efforts. Chairman Watts stated that if any of the participants needs transportation to the school Saturday, Sat-urday, they need only to call him. |
