Show Big Game Hunt Dates Drawn Up By State Group During Meet The final schedule for all 1953 big game hunts was drawn up by the Utah Board of Big Game Control Con-trol rlurinp- a Julv 3 .executive session held at the State Fish and Game Department offices in Salt Lake City. The board had previously set a general eleven day either sex fall deer hunt to open October 17 through Octobr 27. Some early and .late season hunts for elk were set up where conditions warranted a departure from the above regular season. No hunts were scheduled for either antelope or buffalo during 1953. In the case of both animals it was felt that present herd numbers num-bers should be increased before any hunts were allowed. Board members gave lengthy consideration and discussion to the fall deer harvest before scheduling several new type hunts under broad management powers given this body by the 1953 legislature. Every effort was made to encourage encour-age a more equitable distribution of hunters into deer-range problem prob-lem areas over the state.
