Show First Polio Case Here This Season Strikes Young Girl Kathryn Degn, 11, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Degn of Brookside, is recovering from an attack of polio, at a Salt Lake hospital, hos-pital, where she was taken for treatment last Friday. It is believed be-lieved to be the first polio case in Springville this season. Kathryn is responding nicely to the treatment and she is expected to recover from the effects of the disease soon, her mother stated Wednesday. She is also able to eat. Commenting on symptoms of the disease, Mrs. Degn said that Kathryn began feeling unusually tired Monday and sweat excessively. excess-ively. This feeling continued until Thursday, her throat was affected affec-ted and the family physician was called. The physician treating the case in Salt Lake City stated that children should have at least one hour's rest every day, even if they don't sleep and an extra hour's rest each night, as a precaution against polio. |
