It wasn't 101 years ago that this picture .was taken, but it was in Springville's earlier days that this group of lady friends got together for a social afternoon and incidentally inciden-tally a picture. In as much as Springville will celebrate its 10 1st birthday Tuesday, it seemed appropriate to let the present generation see what used to be termed, "A Grandmother's Party." Also compare it with the grandmother's parties of today. , Possibly the only similarity would be that of the subject discussed, namely: My Grandchildren. At left sitting is Elizabeth Gange, a relative of the Walter Bird fam ily; next seated is Mrs. Burgess, a sister of, "Beafsteak" Harrison's wife; Standing center, cen-ter, Mrs. Manwaring, mother of John H. Manwaring. In the rocking chair is Grandmother Grand-mother Peterson to Andrew Peterson, Zelma Beardall, George Peterson; Mrs. Bagtey is seated, a grandmother of the late Joe Bagley and great grandmother of Dan Bagley. In white is Zebrina Alleman, mother of Mrs. Ida Taylor of Salt Lake, in front of whose house the picture was taken, at the site of the present Utah Service Station. Next tc Mrs. Alleman is the mother of Harold Alleman, who was a sister to Zebrina. |
