Curtis Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Young Mother Joint funeral services were conducted con-ducted Wednesday afternoon in Provo Manavu-Fifth Ward Chapel for Mrs. LaVera Graves Curtis, 37, wife of J. Elmo Curtis, and baby son who died following childbirth child-birth Saturday evening at Utah Valley hospital. Mrs. Curtis is a former resident of SpringviUe moving to Provo in 1946. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery in this city. She was born March 27, 1918, in Lake Shore, the daughter of James H. and Edna R. Hadfield Graves. She married Mr. Curtis March 24, 1937, in the Salt Lake Temple. She received her education educa-tion in Springville schools and graduated from Springville high school in 1936. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. V. M. Seevey in Springville. Active in the LDS church, she was president of the Primary and was Sunday School secretary. She taught in MIA and Relief Society and was a member of a Primary stake board for 15 years. She received the first Golden Gold-en Gleaner award in Springville. She was president of BYU Training Train-ing School PTA and had received a tribute from KOVO for outstanding out-standing civic service. Besides her husband, ,she is survived sur-vived by three daughters: Karen, JoAnne, and Janet Vee Curtis, all of Provo; her parents, Springville; Spring-ville; three brothers and two, sisters: sis-ters: Floyd J. Graves, Norman Graves and Ronald H. Graves, all of Springville; Mrs. Rex (Thelma) Stewart, Benjamin; Mrs. Dean' (Emma) Mason, Springville. She was preceded in death by three sons. |
