Show 'SHS'Spring Sports Get Underway Despite Weather; Games Set Spring sports at the high school seem to be as chilled as the blossoms in this inconsistent spring. The thinclads are bucking the weather and if given a S break at all, should turn out some winning teams in tennis, track and baseball. Particularly bright is the tennis outlook with the Devils having Gary Crandall as their nucleus. Gary has won every game he has played in competition to date to spur his team to a 5-0 win over Payson last Wednesday and also a 5-0 victory over Spanish Fork Tuesday. The team will play Carbon Car-bon on April 17 at Carbon, will meet Lincoln here on April 24, and play Provo May 1 at Provo. The regional meet will be on May 11 with the state finals on May 19. Payson defeated Springvilie's baseball team 11-8 last Thursday and the Devils will' test the Lincoln Lin-coln club today at Lincoln. Track prospects look fair and the boys are working hard to capture cap-ture honors in the various meets this year. Calvin Thorpe looks particularly par-ticularly good in the high hurdles. Coach Alma Garrett is handling the tennis and baseball while Coach Pehrson is coaching track. |
