Show RANGELANDS ARE DRY, WATCH THAT FIRE Warning has been issued against carelessness resulting re-sulting in fires occurring on national forest lands during the deer hunting season. The opening of the deer hunting season October 22 will see thousands of hunters in the forests after the buckskin. The rangelands are dry, the weather warm and the fire hazard high. Yet the men whose ! job it is to protect the forests are confident that they can get through the hunting season without destructive destruc-tive fires if they have the cooperation of all hunters. Hunters are urged to be careful with their camp and warming fires. To put out any fire they may see and to report any fire to the nearest forest officer or game warden. If four simple rules are followed there will be no range fires this year: (1) Crush out your cigarett, cigar or pipe ashes. (2) Break your match in two. (3) Drown or bury your camp or warming fire. 4) If you must build a fire be sure it is in a safe place. Kill every spark before leaving. If possible put out any fire that may occur and report it promptly. Smokey Bear says: "Remember only you can prevent forest fires". |
