The same day they leave for California, Young Kay Tew will leave for Camp Carson, Colorado to enter the army. On the 16th of this month Mr and Mrs. Roy Tew and three children chil-dren of Provo will leave for Fairbanks, Fair-banks, Alaska where he will be employed this summer. On the 17th, Naomi Rowen of Provo will attend the school convention con-vention in Denver, Colo representing repre-senting the Wasatch School Lynn Bird, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. LaVell Bird, left for Camp Carson, Colorado, after spending a ten day furlough at home. Mrs. Eva Bird entertained the members of the Needle Craft Club at her home Thursday afternoon. The time was spent in quilting a beautiful wedding ring quilt and in social chat. A delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served to sixteen club members by Marva Whiting, Martha Whiting, Gwen Allen anc!$ Alga Mackley. ' The members of the Sierra Bon-ita Bon-ita club visited the Art Gallery at the Springville high school Thursday Thurs-day evening after which they all enjoyed supper at LeMar's Cafe. Attending were Jen Allen, Louise Jensen, LaNore Bills, LaRie Warren, War-ren, Iva Snow, Beth Jensen and Iris Dibble. Donald Bluth a former Maple-ton Maple-ton resident, has recently returned return-ed to his home in Santa Monica, California after spending several days here. He attended conference while in Utah. Mrs. Janice Marchant Stewart and son are spending a month at the home of her mother Mrs. Helen Snow. Her husband Jan Stewart is stationed with the army in Ta-coma, Ta-coma, Wash. Jan will be released from the army in six weeks at which time they will make their home in Arizona. Mr .and Mrs. Boyd Johnson and small daughter have just returned from a two-week vacation in Cali fornia, where they visited with Boyd's brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson. Mrs. Walter Despain and daughter, daugh-ter, Arva, have gone to Chino, Calif., to make their home. Mr. Despain has been in California for some time. Two of Mrs. Despains daughters, Mrs. Harold Johnson and Mrs. Frank Scott of California were here to help their mother move. They, together with Frank Scott attended conference while here. Before leaving for California Mrs. Despain, together with her daughters and Frank Scott were dinner guests at the Lewis Johnson home. Claude J. Johnson of Kearns and Mrs. Richard Henderson and children chil-dren of Salt Lake City were visitors visi-tors at the Lewis Johnson home during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Haymond and children have returned to their home in California after visiting several days at the home of her parerits Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davies. Mr. and Mrs .Frank Davies were Sunday guests of their son and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Davies of Cedar City, i Mr. and Mrs. Jay Durrant of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Casper I and small daughter of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Dove of Provo were Easter Sunday dinner din-ner guests at the home of their parents Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Hopla. Young Elmer Bird, formerly of Mapleton, who has been living in Provo for several months, left for Salt Lake City Monday to be inducted in-ducted into the army. He will take his basic traing at Camp Carson, Colo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer W. Bird. Elmer has recently returned from a ten day vacation trip to Fontana. Calif., where he has been the guest at the home of an uncle and his family Mr. Harry Boswell. A family dinner was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Whiting on Easter Sunday, by all the members of their family and their children. Nominations Nomina-tions for the election to he held in May were made. The Special ) interest group of the Mapleton i ward attended in a group to enjoy the Hawaiian films and the dis- nav of Hawaiian articles. Mr. Kanahele plans to return to the islands with his family at the completion of the school year. The genealogy committees of the Mapleton wards held a banquet at the church recently. Clinton Young of the Mapleton ward and Maston yfentz of the Mapleton Second ward were in charge. Proceeds were used to purchase a history book for each ward. Quayle Dixon of Spanish Fork was the guest speaker. Mrs. Frances Clark sang two solos; she was accompanied by Mary Bird; Alma Whiting and Wayne Holley played two violin duets, accompanied by Boyd Hales; representing the stake were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ashcraft, Mr. and Mrs. Farnk Stringer and Bill Ed-fTington. Ed-fTington. The Mapleton J. C. Wives entertained enter-tained their husbands at their annual an-nual Easter party April 8 in the Memorial hall. President Mary Carnesecca and her new officers were in charge of arrangements. Assisting her were Janet Carnesecca, Carnes-ecca, Rhoda Hansen, Iris Roundy and Beth Bird. A delicious pot luck supper was served early in the evening at tables beautifully decorated with yellow daffodils. Covers were laid for twenty four couples. Competitive games followed supper sup-per and prizes were presented the winning teams. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Clark and their daughter and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Thomas and two children of Salt Lake City were dinner guests at the Norris T Binks home on Easter Sunday. Former residents of Mapleton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Behrmann, who have been living in Arizona for the last two years, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Palmer and their family. They attended conference while here. Mrs. John Westwood has had the company of Mrs. Nancy Martineou of Blanding over the weekend. They attended conference in Salt Lake City, together. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Clegg and four children of Vancouver, Wash., have spent ten days visiting visit-ing at the home of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Willis Harmer of Mapleton and Mr. and Mrs. Luke Clegg of Provo. They were here especially to attend the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harmer. Other guests at the Harmer home over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Mel Harwood and children chil-dren of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Maxine Harwood, Mrs. Ber-neice Ber-neice Woffinden and Mrs. Naomi Clegg accompanied their parents Mr. and Mrs. Willis Harmer to Idaho Falls, Ida., Thursday to witness wit-ness the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harmer. The home of Mrs. Jennie Tew was the scene of a lovely family dinner Sunday where several of her children met before leaving for several different distinations within the next few days. . Mrs. Helen Gutke who has been employed in the FBI office in Salt Lake City for the past several years will leave with her young daughter Janet for Puerto Rico in the West Indies on the 21st oi this month .where she will work ir the government office there.
