Show Mapleton News By Mrs. Norris T. Binks Phone HU 9-5875 Mr. and Mrs. David Perry and family spent two days in Beaver visiting with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Erickson of Salt Lake City were Sunday .guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norris T. Binks. They were also visitors at the D. S. Hopla home. The Senior Aaronic group of the Mapleton ward joined the other Aaronic groups from the .stake at Kelly's Grove Wednesday Wednes-day night for an outing. Harold Barker is secretary of the Mapleton Maple-ton group. Wives of the members were special guests. Twenty attended at-tended from the Mapleton ward. The Senior Aaronic group met Sunday night at the home of E. F. Binks, where Vaughn Bushman gave the lesson. Ei'ma and BoD sayer were hosts to the Jaycees and their wives on Friday night at a swimming party at their home. Volleyball followed swimming and a delicious lunch served on the patio conluded the evening. Thirty six Mapleton Jaycees and their wives enjoyed a steak fry at Kelly's Grove Wednesday night of last week. Gene Gibbs and his wife were acclaimed pret- -.CUT ty good cooks at this party. Jos-s eph Carnesecca, Niel Whiting and Theo Roundy and their wives acted act-ed as the committee who were responsible re-sponsible for arrangements. Camp fire talks and visiting concluded the evening. The Mapleton Sewing Club entertained en-tertained their husbands at a no hostess party Wednesday night of last week on Memorial Park. Pot luck supper was served on the lighted lawns near the fireplace to the following club members and their husbands: Mrs. Devere Barnes, Mrs. LeRay Dallin, Mrs. Arvil Dallin, Mrs. Floyd Shepherd Shep-herd and Mrs. Kenneth Lowe of Springville and the following members and their husbands from Mapleton: Mrs. Wayne Barker, Mrs. Don Roundy, Mrs. Neno An-tineno An-tineno and Mrs. Grant Norwood. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Henderson of Salt Lake City were special guests. Memorial Hall at Mapleton was the scene of a family reunion of the James H. Adams family Saturday Sat-urday afternoon of last week. Members met at the home of Dr. and Mrs. W. G. Biesinger in Springville prior to coming to Mapleton where they were all served a delicious Italian dinner by Rosa Bona, Arlene Antineno, Rea Bleggi and Rose Bleggi. A fine program followed dinner with numbers being given by each family group. The young folks enjoyed en-joyed volleyball and tennis on the adjoining park. Bliss Harmer and Darrell Warren War-ren were in charge of arrangements arrange-ments for an Elders' party Wednesday Wed-nesday night at Memorial Park. HFPF- !A hamburger fry and volleyball were features of the evening. 25 elders and their partners were presnt. The Needle Craft club will meet Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Gwen Allen. All club members mem-bers are cordially invited to be present. Mrs. D. S. Hopla gave a family dinner in honor of their son Dr. Cluff Hopla and his family Sunday. Sun-day. Cluff arrived Friday from Fairbanks, Alaska, where he has been conducting a scientific research re-search expedition this summer. He and his family will return to Norman, Nor-man, Oklahoma, in time for him to resume his teaching in the University Uni-versity there. Others present at the dinner in addition to the honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Durrant of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Casper Cas-per and daughter Linda, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Erickson of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Darcey Dove of Prove Carma Frandsen and Collette Binks were among those who attended at-tended the bridal shower given in honor of Marilyn Blanchard at the home of LaRue Westover in Orem Wednesday night. These girls all work at the First Security Bank in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson and son Donald of Burbank, California, Cali-fornia, have been guests at the home of Mrs. Helen Snow for the past week. They all spent Thursday Thurs-day in Salt "Lake City. Mrs. Lewis Curtis who is the former Mary Beesley, has been a guest at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Beesley. She came here especially to attend the wedding of her brother Wayne who was married last week. Mary has been making her home in Wyoming. The Primary Association of the Mapleton Second ward held their closing social Tuesday afternoon which concludes their summer work. No primary will be held next Tuesday, but the following Tuesday there will be the first Primary of the fall season. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Allen and their daughter Jeanne have recently returned from a delightful delight-ful visit to California. While there they visited at the home of Sylvester's Syl-vester's brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth R... Allen. Together To-gether they all visited Disneyland especially for Jeanne's sake, who was fortunate enough to secure the autograph of Walt Disney himself. They also enjoyed their visit to the Knott Berry Farm with their relatives. They were gone a week. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Robb accompanied ac-companied by Merlene Degraw, spent two weeks visiting with Mr. Robb's folks in Wyoming. They also visited several points of interest in-terest in the Northwest . while away. |
