Show Local ; Miss Naomi Tew, daughter of President Wm. T. Tew of the East Central States mission, and Mrs. Tew, has been released from the eastern states mission, according ac-cording to word received here. Miss Tew is expected to be here soon after visiting her parents and family at Louisville, Ky. Beet thinning in fields of this vicinity Is well underway this week according to local farmers. The picking of strawberries has also begun and a large number of boys and girls are working in the two crops. Recent heavy rains followed by extreme hot weather has done much toward the growth of the crops,, growers report. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Salisbury attended the convention of Utah bankers in Salt Lake City the past week. A large group of bank officials, Kiwanis club members and other citizens attended the public meeting featuring Deanna Durbin and Merle Thorpe at the tabernacle, Saturday night. Arvil Anderson, formerly of Price, is at the Dr. George A. Anderson hospital, recovering from an operation for appendicitis which he underwent June 2. Elmo B. Roylance of this city is recovering at the Dr. George A. Anderson hospital from a major ma-jor operation performed May 31. Miss Lucile Sanford who recently re-cently returned from the western states mission, will be the principal prin-cipal speaker at a meeting in the Fourth ward Sunday at 7 p. m. The meeting is sponsored j by the Elders' Quorum and an 'excellent and unusual program in j addition to the talk is arranged. All ward members and friends I are urged to attend. |
