Show STAKE M MEN BASKETBALL With the close of the Kolob Stake M Men basketball tournament tourna-ment last Saturday night, the First ward was officially declared stake champions for 1939, and had won the right to represent the stake in the district tournament tour-nament at Spanish Fork, March 8 to 11. Result of the concluding games were: First vs. Fourth, 48-32; Mapleton vs. Third, 35-30. The final standing is as follows: fol-lows: W L Pet. First 12 0 1.000 Mapleton '. 9 3 .750 Third 5 7 .417 Fourth 4 8 .333 Third 0 12 .000 At the conclusion of the games, an all-stake team was selected with each team allowed ten votes. First team members include: Joe Miller, TTiird ward, forward; Matt Olsen, First, forward; Jay Niel-son, Niel-son, Mapleton, center; Bert Cherrington, First, guard; George Bid. First, guard. Bert Cherringr. ton was selected as the most valuable player in the stake. The second team members include: in-clude: DeVere Weight, First, forward; for-ward; Bob Burt, Second, forward; Gordon Livingston, Fourth, center; cen-ter; Guy Nielson,. Mapleton, guard; , Max Rowland, Third, guard. Honorable." mention went to Ted Rowland, Max Sumsion, Wood-row Wood-row Weight, Verl Jensen, Thales Brown, Gordon Pierce, Wayne Plans are now going forward, accoi-ding to Ray Colton, director, direc-tor, for a M Men's Softball tournament tour-nament of the stake to get underway under-way about May 1. This is the first time in the history of this stake, this activity has been carried out and much enthusiasm is expected to result In forthcoming forthcom-ing games. |
