Show SOCILTY NEVS they were royally entertained by officials of the- company. v Dr. and Mrs. Harold Finch and daughters Ruth and Mildred of Laramie, Wyo., accompanied by Dr. and Mrs. M. D. Bringhurst of Salt Lake City, were guests at a chicken dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. O .Thorn Tuesday. Dr. and Mrs. Finch and daughters daugh-ters will spend several clays here and at Spanish Fork and Salt Lake City, visiting with relatives and friends. Professor L. C. Schank of Fallon, Fal-lon, Nev., vocational worker of that state, was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Anderson in this city over the week end, returning on Sunday. Mrs. T. T. Hatch has had as her guests the past week, her daughters daugh-ters Mrs. Einer Bjarnson of San Diego, Cal., Mrs. E. M. Bennedict of Ogden and Mrs. F. Le Roy Stewart and daughter Lois of Shoshone, Sho-shone, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Elton Packard and son of Rock Springs, Wyo., are visiting relatives and friends in Springville. Members of the Friendship Circle were delightfully entertained entertain-ed Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Norma Holmes. The entertaining rooms and tables were decorated with the season's flowers. Progressive "bunco" featured fea-tured the entertainment and high score prize for the games were awarded to Mrs. Aleen Lopez and Mrs. Madge Clyde, the latter being a guest. Others in attendance were Mrs. Grace Richmond, Mrs. Wilda Oakley, Mrs. Georgia Perry, Mrs. Orlynn Ash, and Mrs. Marva Averett, the latter also being a guest. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess. The meeting of the Second ward 1 Gleaner girls, scheduled to be held next Tuesday night has been changed to Monday night July 13, when the group will be entertained at the home of Mrs. Mae Fletcher. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gottfred-son Gottfred-son and Ed Gottfredson came from Logan to spend the Fourth of July with relatives and friends here. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. West and daughter Marilyn of El Segunda, Cal., are guests of Mrs. West's sisters and other relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blanchard of this city have as their guests, Mrs. Blanchard's mother and brother, Mrs. M. E. Morton and son Edgar of Wrilkie, Saskatchewan, Saskatche-wan, Canada. Mrs. Clara P. Bird returned Monday from a several weeks' vacation trip in the east. The trip was taken in company with relatives rela-tives including, Mrs. Ann P. Robertson, Rob-ertson, Mrs. George Page, Mrs. Mary P. Harding and Miss Clara Page of Payson. The trip was shortened considerably when the group met with an automobile accident ac-cident near New York. As they neared a railroad crossing their car was forced into a crossing sign to avoid a headon collision with a train. Mrs. Bird sustained a deep cut to her head and Miss Page suffered a fractured arm. These two returned immediately home by train. Others in the party were uninjured and are returning re-turning by auto. The trip up until the accident was especially enjoyable enjoy-able they report with many places of interest in the eastern and southern states visited. The marriage of Miss Luell Straw of this city and Edgar S. Best, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Best also of Springville took place Tuesday morning in the Salt Lake City temple, with Elder David O. McKay performing the ceremony. Following the wedding wed-ding ceremony a breakfast was given by Mrs. John W. Tuckfield and Mrs. Elliott S. Winward, aunts of the bride, at the Tuckfield home on Downington avenue in Salt Lake City, 'the guests were seated at one long table which was coveied with a handsome filet cloth and centered with silver oowls of summer flowers. Ivory tapers in silver holders were at each end of the table. A musical program was presented by Miss Miss Wanda Stewart of this city spent the Fourth of July in Price, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vonornos. Mr. and Mrs. LaCelle Sunusion and family of this city left early this week to make their home for the summer and possibly the winter, win-ter, at Mayfield near Manti, where Mr. Sumsion is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Axel Danielson and sons of this city spent the Fourth of July in Manti visiting Mr. Danielson's sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Lowry and Mrs. Ray Lewis and families. Fred Thorpe of Bristol, Nev., 1 has spent the past several days visiting Bert -McKee in this city. Mrs. Alene Corley Higgenson and son Lee of Green River, Wyo., are visiting Mrs. Higgenson's mother, Mrs. Stella Wixom and other relatives in Springville. Mrs. H. T. Reynolds Jr., and children left the latter part of the week on a vacation trip to places of interest in California. Miriam Bishop and Miss Alice Fox. The bride was frocked in a white tailleur suit with a corsage of gardenias and pink rose buds. Mrs. Phillip Thorn Chase Jr., and Mrs. E. O. Best attended ene bride. After a short wedding trip the couple returned to Springville to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson Ander-son returned early this week from an eastern tour. Mr. Anderson who is president of th.e local Kiwanis Ki-wanis club went especially to attend at-tend the Kiwanis International convention at Washington, D. C. Besides visiting many places of interest in the capitol city Mr. and Mrs. Anderson visited in New York and surrounding states. A trip to Niagara Falls, a boat ride up the Hudson river, and a visit to Gettysburg, Pa., were among the enjoyable features of the tour. They visited relatives at Hammond, Ham-mond, Ind., and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Burt, the former a former resident of this city, in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson also spent one day at the Ford factory at Detroit where |
