Show I Local Considerable excitement with little damage resulted from a fire at the local show house July Fourth when films ignited in the operating room. The blaze which destroyed about 500 feet of film, was extinguished before the fire department could reach the scene. Damage of about $25 covered by insurance, resulted. The cherry harvest in this vicinity vicin-ity will soon be completed growers report. Aside from- damage by hail the crop this year was of excellent ex-cellent quality and a good market was reported for the crop. From the Springville-Mapleton district and the Provo bench area several cars with an average of 1600 cases to the car has been shipped thisi year, county officers reported! At the first meeting of the Third ward 4-H club, named "Sew-etts," "Sew-etts," under direction of Mrs. L. Clark, officers for the year were elected as follows: Vivian Keddle, president; Helen Evans, vice president; presi-dent; La Vern Hone, secretary-treasurer; secretary-treasurer; Rae Gabbitas, reporter; Elsie Sumsion, song and cheer leader. The club met at the home of Vivian Keddle. The Newman and Jane Draper Bulkley family reunion due to a recent automobile accident and other sickness has been postponed 1 indefinitely, Secretary Mattie Henderson announces. The family gathering was scheduled for July 17, 18 and 19 at Sulpher Springs, Hobble Creek canyon. A meeting of the Springville Townsend club is scheduled to be held Friday night July 10 at 8 P- m. in the seminary building. Officers for the coming year will be elected in addition to the presentation pres-entation of an excellent program. |
