Show : . . . - . ... : r Mayor Anderson, City Councilmen to Officiate; Four Games Scheduled The formal opening" of Sprlng-ville's Sprlng-ville's electrically lighted city ball park is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, when Mayor George A. Anderson will turn on t-he eighteen huge flood lights over the park, making it one of the best lighted recreation centers in the state. A member of the city council will be selected to pitch the first ball under the new lights, while another anoth-er will be asked to make the first bat and another to act as catcher. The high school band will be out to furnish music during the evening. The formal opening will be free to the public and the whole town is invited to attend. The games scheduled to take place immediately after the formal for-mal lighting beginning at 8 o'clock are between the Springville Ki-wanis Ki-wanis club and the Spanish Fork Kiwanis club, followed by another game between the city employees and the Springville Canning; the American Legion vs. the Giveden Produce and the Springville Poultry Poul-try vs. Sinclair Service. All games are free to the public. Work on the lighting project is expected to be completed by Aug. 1, under the direction of D. A. Rowland and Grant Whitehead. The project will cost approximately approximate-ly $1000 with much or the work being done by interested citizens. The lights, eighteen in number of 1500 watts each, are being placed on 70-foot poles nearly twice as high as the ordinary lighting light-ing poles on the street. The setup is expected to result in one of the best lighted ball parks In the state. |
