Show 110 KILLED IN POWDER BLAST I PERARANDA ' DE BRACA-i BRACA-i MONTE, Spain, July 11 (UK) i Twenty damaged houses, out of a ! total of 2,300 which stood here Sunday, remained habitable today after a powder deposit explosion which killed 110 people and wounded wound-ed between 1,500 and 2,500. The wounded persons were scattered scat-tered in half a dozen towns. Refugees Refu-gees were in other towns and vil-, vil-, lages, camping in the fields or wandering, still dazed along the roads, carrying odds and ends of furniture and other possessions such as the broken cradle which one woman clutched and the empty emp-ty trunk which a man dragged behind him. Ruins of homes, shops, factories still smouldered. Nationalist authorities suggested suggest-ed that the powder blast might have been caused by the explosion of a locomotive boiler. Authorities confirmed that the locomotive and the train to which it was attached, disappeared, as did a railway station. All persons per-sons in that vicinity were killed. |
