CCC Last Saturday, Company 958 had as a visitor one of the important im-portant figures in CCC activities in the Ninth Corps Area, Major Arthur J. McCrystal, who guides the destinies of companies in the western states from his desk at the Presidio of San Francisco, California. Major McCrystal was accompanied accom-panied by his mother and both commented on the attractive camp and they especially were interested interest-ed in the many beautiful flowers now out in full bloom. adviser, and Blaine Cropper and Floyd U. Long returned Tuesday from Fort Douglas where they attended schools' in educational training and swimming courses, c c c Dr. Albert R. Taylor, camp surgeon, left Thursday morning on a short vacation of 10 days. During his absence Lieutenant Wells of the Pleasant Grove camp will look after the health and sanitation conditions here, c c c The softball team of this organization or-ganization has been playing under un-der adverse conditions for the past month due to the shifting of players to spike camps where they are out of reach to play in the league games. However, it is contemplated con-templated to move those players into the main camp in Hobble Creek in time to have them par We, here at the camp, feel it quite an honor to be host to such distinguished visitors and to receive re-ceive such commendations as the major gave the personnel here at Camp F-30. Mrs. McCrystal -has been a guest at the Roberts Hotel for the past two months. c c c Captain' Alvin Sessions, camp commander, returned to the Hobble Creek camp Wednesday evening after having visited and inspected activities in eight camps in the southern part of the district. dis-trict. Captain Sessions was pinch hitting for Captain Vernon Peterson, Peter-son, the district inspector, in making the trip. To date no information has been obtained on the subject and the boys arc hoping hop-ing that Company 958 will spend its third winter in Provo. Of course, no one knows just which direction the camps will go, but indications arc that the group has a fifty-fifty chance of returning to the fair grounds'. c c c Chaplain R. E. Curtis presented the all camp night program Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. The chaplain led the group in singing all sorts of songs after which he gave a short talk on developing character. Lieutenant Mcrwin H. Smith was in charge of the meeting and added add-ed a few remarks to the men,. |
