During the evening's games of progressive pro-gressive auction bridge. Miss Marie Ward ajid Mrs. G. D. Kennedy won prizes. Other guests present included, Mrs. Mary Bird, Mrs. Hilda Grant, Mrs. Ella Cran-dall, Cran-dall, Miss Cleo Pierce and Mrs. Manilla Brown. Mrs. Bird was hostess Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon at a bridge luncheon lunch-eon at her home for a number of former school friends. Piano music also formed an entertaining part of the social. Afton Palfrey-man Palfrey-man and Mrs. Blanch Hales. During Dur-ing the afternoon's games. Mrs. Combs was awarded high score favor. Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Averett of this city announce the engagement engage-ment of their -daughter Norma to Hardy Child, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Child, the marriage to take place September 3. Mrs. Lela Lisonuee entertained a group of old school friends at a dinner at her home Wednesday afternoon. Reminescences of school days with the readings of diarys furnished pleasant entertainment. There were present, Mrs. Lily Hopla, Mapleton; Mrs. Eva Barton, Bar-ton, Mrs. Leona Bird of Salt Lake; Miss Cleo Pierce, Mrs. Floss Phillips, Mrs. Hazel Harrison and Mrs. Alice Davis of this city. Mrs. Alice Garner of Salt Lake is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Simkins this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Straw are visiting Mr. Straw's sister, Miss ! Luell Straw and other relatives and friends here. Miss Lola B. White is spending spend-ing a short vacation with relatives and friends in San Francisco, Calif. Wilford Blanchard arrived here from Canada the past week to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Blanchard. Miss Dorothy Harmer entertained enter-tained a gi;oup of friends at a party at her home Monday night. Games and a lunch were enjoyed by the following, Esther Mitchell, Provo; Esther Laney, Norma Whitney, Margaret Bird, Ida Hoffman, Hoff-man, Edna and Eva Starr, Virginia Vir-ginia and Marie Rivers, Marie Simkins, Tess Packard, Dalley Tolman and Shirley Kain of Dayton, Day-ton, Ohio. Mrs. Jessie Dalton, Mrs. Rea Straw, and Mrs. Mae Groesbeck were hostesses to the members of the Ladies' Literary club at a bridge luncheon at the home of the latter, Wednesday evening. An attractive color scheme in pink and green was carried out in table decorations. Progressive "Monte Carlo Whist" proved an entertaining feature of the party with prizes awarded to Mrs". B'ird-ella B'ird-ella Bearnson and Mrs. Minnie Groesbeck. Others present were Mrs. Alice Packard, Mrs. E. E. Knudsen, Mrs. Floss Phillips, Mrs. Blanch Beal, Mrs. Milton Harrison, Harri-son, Miss Luell Straw, Mrs. Bill Straw, Mrs. Mercedes Anderson, Mrs. Hannah Callister, Mrs. Ruby Christensen, Mrs. Helen Crandall, Mrs. Margaret Grooms, Mrs. Emma Jacobsen, Mrs. Bess Men-denhall, Men-denhall, Mrs. Elizabeth Salsibury, Mrs. Catherine Salisbury, Mrs. Julia Sumsion, Miss Rhoda Groesbeck Groes-beck and Mrs. Manilla Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Sam E. Wagner of Le Grande, Oregon visited the past week with Mrs. George Crandall and family. Mrs. Crandall Cran-dall plans to accompany them to St. George for a family reunion this week. Mrs. Cora T.
