Dr. V. K. Miller, pliysician sent to examine the child on a court older, feared for Wallace Doyle's life. J The child's parents wept and paaded that Wallace Doyle not be sent to a hospital, nn action they regarded as sinful. Dr. Miller, how-ever, how-ever, said he would not consider attempting at-tempting the operation except in a hospital. The Lord is taking care of him," said the elder -Sharp, "and if it's Cod's will. He will cure my boy's leg." Sharp returned the stricken child home yesterday after secluding seclud-ing him at the home of relatives SO miles across Sand mountain to avoid enforcement of a court writ calling for medical examination. Members of the Holiness sect, termed "Holy Rollers," clustered about the small Sharp home as the doctor arrived. Their shouting and chanting, some in the "unknown tongue," an unintelligible babble by which devout de-vout holiness members believe they converse with the holy spirit, created a din. "Brother" Jim Miller, leader of cult, disapproved of the doctor's call. "But I'll tell y,ou what I'd do if it was my child," he said. "I'd take it clear to the supreme court of the United States before I'd let them lay a hand on him. That's what Jim Miller'd do if it was one of his youngjuns." |
