Show FRANCO FOULS; LOSES MATCH Cyclone Franco may have been accused of many things but they could never Hay he was too gentle with his opponents. Franco did everything but tenr down the building Monday night in his match with Jack Brentano, finally losing the bout when he was disqualified for roughness. Rough? He made Tiger Backley look like a lily in comparison. Brentano won the first fall with his odd "human dishrag" hold after a terrific battle. Franco came out for the second fall loaded. He hud his mouth full of water and Brentano got it in the eyes. While Brentano was digging" at his peepers Franco pinned him. Later his kicking, gouging and foul tactics became so noxious that Turk Kirkwood disqualified him. At one time in the match they were chasing- around through the arena under the seats and it took half a dozen cops to get them back in. A short, dizzy little fella whom the ringsiders called "Whiskers" did the refereeing- until Franco chased him out. Joe LaRue, Canadian welter champion and Henry Jones, Pro-vo, Pro-vo, wrestled to a draw in a fast bout which was one of the hest straight wrestling- contests seen in many-a-moon. They wrestled Can-I Can-I adian style, in rounds. LaRue took ; the first fall with a rolling toe hold and Jones won the second fall in the last round with a whip wristlock. It was fast and interesting inter-esting throughout. Byron Boyd knocked out Hersh Bland in the third round of a good bout. George Palmer carried the fight to Harold Pyne in their four-round four-round bout but ran into a haymaker hay-maker in the third.1 round and Pyne came off victor. |
